Weichei = Soft Egg
A children’s game I created for the 4 wall immersive Cyberstage while a Postdoc in the Virtual Environments group at the Fraunhofer Institute for Media Communication in 1999.
The game was an experiment with interactive cartoon sounds designed to engage attention and add character to a simple egg and spoon game. The giant spoon makes a “whooshing sound” as it moves, and the eggs make a classic cartoon “whistle” when they fall. Weichei was shown in the Discover Virtual Worlds exhibition at the Animax Multimedia Theatre in Bonn in 1999.
Here is the game running on the Barco VR desktop at the CSIRO ICT Centre in Canberra in 2004.
